H2 GIGA - Powering innovation with High-Efficiency Electrodes

About the Project

H2-GIGA is a European initiative focused on revolutionizing green hydrogen production through the development of high-efficiency electrodes for high-pressure alkaline electrolysis. By insourcing the production of nickel foam, an essential electrode material, H2-GIGA enhances performance, reduces costs, and strengthens Europe’s industrial autonomy.

Our Mission

  • Producing next-generation, high-efficiency electrodes
  • Internalizing critical manufacturing processes
  • Supporting the EU’s climate and industrial goals

Key Innovations

  • Advanced Manufacturing Facility:
Equipped with 2 high-capacity plating lines,
designed to support up to 1 GW electrolyzer capacity.
  • Proprietary Electroplating Technology:
Enables scalable, sustainable, and cost-effective electrode production.
  • Nickel Foam Insourcing:
Reduces reliance on imports and ensures supply chain resilience.

Strategic Impact

  • H2-GIGA directly supports the European Green Deal, the Net-Zero Industry Act (NZIA), and the REPowerEU Plan by:
    • Enabling large-scale green hydrogen production
    • Decarbonizing heavy industries
    • Strengthening European supply chains

Our Core Objectives

  1. Establish European-Based Production of High-Value Components
  2. Scale Up Electrode Production for Competitive Advantage
  3. Internalize Critical Production Processes

EU-Co-funded, Global Impact

H2-GIGA is supported by a €16.5 million EU grant, reinforcing the European Union’s commitment to achieving its Net-Zero goals through industrial-scale hydrogen technology.

A Strategic Asset for a Sustainable Future

The H2-GIGA factory is more than a production site—it’s a strategic asset in the global race toward a sustainable, hydrogen-powered future. By combining innovation, efficiency, and European manufacturing excellence, H2-GIGA is helping to turn the promise of green hydrogen into reality.
